To Improve Animal Kindness And Market Share, McDonalds Could Sell An Organic Vegan Burger

Organic Avocado on sprouted grain bread.

My breakfast today, organic avocado on sprouted grain bread. Good for my body, but is it good for the Global Ecosystem?

In dwelling, live close to the ground.
In thinking, keep to the simple.
In conflict, be fair and generous.
In governing, don’t try to control.
In work, do what you enjoy.
In family life, be completely present.

Tao te Ching, as translated by Steven Mitchell.

McDonalds Could Change The World For The Better.

McDonaldsI have fond memories of the McDonalds Restaurant, in Geneva, Switzerland, back in the mid-1970s, because we could actually get an affordable meal there, and the kids could run around. But they now need to get with the New World of healthy, organic food, so my friends in the USA will go there with me, in the mid-2010s.

My friends won’t eat in McDonalds. I know plenty of people who won’t eat in McDonalds for a number of reasons, but I think this huge chain could be the key to fixing the American obesity epidemic, by slowly, slowly, changing their menu choices. They could get rid of their televisions, too, while they’re at it.

We are what we eat

McDonalds could improve family values. Lots of Americans, of various religious and political persuasions, talk about family values. I think that there is only one family value worth anything, and that is listening to each other – really listening. How can families eating out listen to each other with the distraction of a television set? They can’t and they don’t. I watch from a television-free region of restaurants, and they really don’t. They stare at the TV, or their eyes dart there all the time, while they pretend to be listening.

If I can’t find a television-free area, or healthy food, I leave.

I’m now limited to the coffee in McDonalds during road trips, but this could change, and I’d bring my friends with me – just assure good treatment of animals, avoidance of pesticides, for health and to reduce animal testing, and no TV, and I’ll be back. I used to meet lots of good folks there, and I miss it.

Thanks for the coffee and Internet, anyway.
