Hi folks! Welcome!

Use other runners to pull up your pace as they go by, it really works. Just try to hang in behind them for as long as you wisely can, with the accent on wisely.

I like to build local races into my training plan, and local food into my eating plan, because it just makes sense. Plus you meet some great people and enjoy wonderfully healthy food.

What’s more local than your own garden, in which I have a fig tree that has grown nicely, and is providing lots of sweet, tasty figs, mostly for the deer but some for us, too! We also enjoyed a local run yesterday, the Carrboro 10k, in which I managed to place second in my small age group.

Great time had by all at the Carrboro 10k, 2013.

Race tip:

This time I tried a race trick that my athlete son, Nigel, recommended to pull up my pace a little, which has suffered badly since my aortic surgery incident and is now slowly coming back. Very slowly! As people went by I would attempt to stay with them for as long as my legs could handle it, and each time my pace would pick up a little.

Time to really pick up my pace over the winter if I hope to qualify for Boston again, whilst avoiding injuries.

Remember, the next injury is just one little mistake away.
