You’re Only Limited By Your Imagination So Imagine

I dreamed of returning to Ironman training after my aortic surgery in 2010. Here I am (racing very carefully) thanks to modern medicine, a great support group, and a little effort.

Hi! Thanks for coming by!

Diving Bell and the Butterfly by Jean-Dominique Bauby

If you need inspiration, and you don’t think that you can do it, read this book and think again.

The key benefit of staying fit and healthy is that it enables you to do things.

What do you want to do, that you’re not sure you can?

We are all in different situations, with our unique life histories, experience, resources, health challenges, and responsibilities, but we all dream or should be dreaming of things that we would like to do. How can you make a great life for yourself without having hopes and dreams, so imagine. Think about it, Jean-Dominique Bauby, a remarkable and inspiring man, didn’t give up, so why should you?

For instance:

  1. If you’re on life-support, dream of getting up again, because life is out there waiting, if only you can make it back.
  2. If you’re overweight and out of shape, dream of climbing the stairs effortlessly like a kid.
  3. If you get out of breath walking a mile, dream of running or swimming three miles.
  4. If you have suffered a severe medical crisis, dream of getting back on your feet and returning to life’s big adventure, walking trails, or even climbing mountains.
  5. If you can run a mile in 8 minutes, dream of running faster or for longer, maybe even the Boston Marathon or a 100-mile trail run, or competing in Master’s Competitions.

The 4-Hour Work Week, book, Tim Ferriss, a book FitOldDog likes

I really like this book, and I return to it every time I feel bogged down.

  6. If you have type two diabetes, dream of fixing it with diet and exercise, and don’t forget that you might still get to run the Boston Marathon (it’s a blast) and see your grandchildren grow up.
  7. If you ride the roads or the trails on a beat up old bike, dream of a new custom bike (and start working to raise the money).
  8. If you want to visit the international space station (I sure do!), start working to make a few million bucks, and go when the price comes down.
  9. IN FACT: follow Tim Ferriss’s Dreamline Protocol, and make it happen.

It’s your life, so make it so!

What have you got to lose? Only everything!
