Stay true to your word athletes, whatever goes on around you, and if in doubt reread the poem, IF, by Rudyard Kipling.
The survival of sports, including triathlons, depends upon honesty and reasoned debate. This is also true of a healthy democracy, it would appear. Furthermore, our leaders should set a good example for others to follow, but maybe that is what is going on in the USA today, with each side standing their ground. Uhmmm! I’m waiting for someone to blink!
I’m still disappointed about Lance, as older or established athletes are important examples for the young, but there we are!
Furthermore, remember that true security lies within you, not in your securities.
Interesting times, indeed!

Yes, a great poem.
I wrote a version of it to describe certain local politicians about 10 years ago.
If …
If you can tell big porkies and keep a straight face
If you can be two faced and seem to have good grace
If you can wangle a big house and not get caught
If you can seem to be quite fair when you’ve been bought
If you can be at ease amid much torrid sleaze
And always find some way to do just as you please
And as you do it see all blame is never yours
And as you leave your friends and brothers with your chores
And as you take the glory that belongs to them
You will by then arrive at what you have become
You will by then be a – politician – my son

Reminds me of Maggie’s Farm, my favorite Bob Dylan song.
