Hi folks,

FitOldDog swimming in Hawaii. One apparent mistake (alone) and one real mistake (poor recovery stroke carrying too much water – must relax that arm). Photo by Deb.
A healthy life is all about healthy appetites, for food, love, exercise, intellectual challenge and spiritual contentment. This is why I love Ironman training. The consistent exercise associated with this great sport keeps me fit, is good for my brain, physical health, especially as I age (69 tomorrow), and apparently for my sex life. Boy, who would want to miss all of those benefits? Another advantage of regular exercise is mobility, and the ability to do things that you otherwise could not. For instance, take my 2-mile open water swim in Hawaii yesterday, set by my coach, Chris Hauth. Beautiful water! Wonderful underwater seascapes! What could be better? It is not often one has a chance to explore such places, and fitness permits activities that the unfit could not even dream of doing.
Yep! Safe exercise for better health is clearly the way to go!

Yes again I have not swam since you left, but been biking every other day.
Biking is better than nothing, my friend. Your coaching on the swim has worked wonders. Having great open water sets. Much appreciated. Bike with you when we get back. -k
