Hi folks,
Life is a great journey, with all of its vicissitudes. When my first child was born I felt as though I had been thrown into prison with a squalling guard who would never let me escape. All of my old habits of going to the movies, reading a book, or eating out whenever I liked, were thrown into disarray. Then two more sons and twenty years later, this screaming but delightful child, Nick, grew into a man and he phoned one day to invite me out for dinner. This, somehow, made it all worth while, and now we take regular trips together for his kite boarding, and we meet for lunch every week to discuss life and search engine optimization.
In fact, I am involved in exercise with each of my three sons, a weight lifter and roller enthusiast (Nick), kick-ass runner, cyclist, and artist (Duncan), and a real Ironman triathlete (Nigel).
I can’t keep up with them when it comes to speed, but on endurance I don’t do too badly. In fact, I think that endurance sports are the way to go for older athletes. What could be better than working out with your own kids? I often wonder if I’ll be able to do the same thing with my grandkids?
That’s my plan!
